The Mahima Project

The Mahima Project

The Mahima Project aims to give these women new avenues to connect with others, express themselves, and begin to work through the traumatic experiences they have suffered in a safe and warm environment. It then aims to help them find new roles and opportunities for growth in the Spokane community.

The Mahima Project validates, empowers, and equips refugee women to thrive in the Spokane community.

To achieve this goal, we…

  • Place a strong emphasis on fostering self-esteem in refugee women, honoring their cultural values.

  • Provide a safe space for sharing experiences, challenges, and triumphs.

  • Offer emotional support and validation through group discussions, storytelling, and entrepreneurial activities such as beading, candle making, henna, tea & coffee time.

Thrive Center Stories: Rana and Lori

“This is exactly why I wanted refugee women to be connected with the community. We really have to mingle. We connect at a human level. You need to have a deeper understanding of each other. That's the goal of the Mahima Project, and look at them.”
