Empowerment for Refugee and Immigrant Communities.
We help immigrants move “from surviving to thriving” through empowerment programs focused specifically on the needs of refugee adolescents and women.
Transitional Housing
Everyone needs a safe place to call home to truly thrive. The current housing crisis in Spokane and around the US makes stable, affordable places to live especially difficult for refugees and other immigrants to find and maintain. Thrive International creates partnerships between investors, developers, landlords, social services agencies, and tenants to increase access to affordable housing in Spokane. Thrive Center, a formerly vacant hotel, now provides housing to over one hundred refugee families, including those fleeing the war in Ukraine.
Women’s Empowerment
In many societies, women don't have equal opportunities to achieve their potential and find fulfillment. For refugees and immigrants, this can be exacerbated by the complexities of adapting to a new culture and community. Thrive International empowers women by creating peer support groups, cultivating practical skills, and connecting women with the resources they need to thrive.
Youth Empowerment
Adolescence is tough for anyone, and even more so for those who have recently left their home country behind and are now learning a new language. The Neema Youth Choir, free soccer camps, and gym night at the YMCA help cultivate community leadership among immigrant youth.
